The Association hope to Stream this years contests and the approximate timings are given below. The extra time between bands is to allow for cleaning to comply with COVID regulations. If you can't join us in person we hope you will enjoy this online event.

The 103rd Irish Championship of Ireland band contest will take place in the Market Place Theatre in Armagh on Saturdays 16th and 23rd of October 2021. The Contest will commence on both days at 11.30am.
Saturday 16th will feature the Brass Band championships. The Grade 3 brass section with three entries will be the first performances starting at 11.30am. The Grade 2 brass section with four entries will commence at 2.00pm and the Championship brass section with five entries will commence at 4.30pm..
Saturday 23rd October will feature the Accordion, Concert and Flute band sections. The second grade accordion action starts the day at 11.30am. The second grade concert section is at 12.00pm and the third grade flute section is at 12.30pm. The grade 2 flute section is at 2.00pm and the World Championship flute section commences at 4.00pm.
The adjudicator on both days of the contest is Professor Roger Webster, who is a former principal cornet player with the famous Black Dyke Mills Brass Band. The contest has been arranged and progressed through the period of Covid restrictions affecting bands so credit to all bands who have worked hard on their rehearsals through these difficult times.
The theatre will be open to the public who wish to attend the contest and tickets will be available in the theatre. Everyone attending the Championship contest in will be required to wear a facemask inside the theatre.

The NIBA Executive met recently and agreed to proceed with the contest this year 2021.
As bands are going to take longer to process on stage it was agreed to run the contest over the two booked dates. 16th and 23rd October.

A lot of work has still be done to ensure that the contest will run safely and efficiently.

Representatives of the NIBA executive committee are meeting with the Market Place Theatre Manager to look at a list of issues.

The full details of the procedures on the contest days will be sent out ahead of the contest after the entries are confirmed and the Pre Draw meeting is held on the 24th September.

Please note that bands entering thIs year's Championship contest should submit the entry form with the correct fee by Saturday18th September.
